NATS GUIs: A Quick Look at Four Popular Options

Okay folks, let me spill the tea about NATS tools (warning: this gets a bit ranty and I’m definitely not pretending to be unbiased here ๐Ÿ˜…)

Listen, I’ve been neck-deep in NATS tooling since forever, and omg the options we have now… Let me break it down for you, but fair warning – I literally helped build NatsDash so I’m about as objective as a proud parent at a school play.

So there’s Natscli, which is like… okay, I get it, you’re a command-line warrior and that’s cool and all, but seriously who has time to type the same commands 50 different times? Though ngl it’s way better than those prehistoric nats-sub/pub tools that made me want to yeet my laptop out the window.

Nui showed up to the party trying to be everyone’s bestie with its whole “I can do desktop AND web!” vibe. Like yeah, it handles all the basics – streams, key-value stores, whatever. It’s fine. It’s totally fine. That’s it, that’s the review ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

And then there’s Qaze strutting in like it’s the main character, built with approximately every programming language known to mankind. Sure, it’s got all these fancy visualizations that makes me go “ooooh pretty!” but sometimes you just need something that quickly snaps up and fits right into your terminal.

Which brings me to NatsDash (aka my precious baby). Look, I KNOW I’m biased here, but hear me out. We built this thing to be faster than my caffeine-induced typing speed and lighter than my bank account after a Steam sale. It’s got this sick terminal UI that just… works? Like, actually works? Without making you want to throw things?

The best part (and I will die on this hill) is that NatsDash runs literally anywhere. Got some ancient server held together with duct tape and prayers? NatsDash will run on it. Need to squeeze it into a container smaller than my attention span? Ez pz. Need to live debug NATS messages on a production k8s cluster? You’ve got yourself covered as most people seem to use it that way ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ

But for real, use whatever works for you! All these tools are valid or whatever… whispers but NatsDash is obviously the GOAT and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise (jk jk… unless?)

P.S. I was forced to add that last diplomatic bit. But they can’t stop me from adding this postscript! NATSDASH 4 LIFE!

[Edit: omg this got way longer than I meant it to, sry not sry]

TL;DR – All NATS tools are cool I guess but NatsDash is my ride-or-die and I’m not even trying to hide it ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I hope that you found some tips and tricks that can help you to make your life easier when using the NATS.
